DELAWARE – OCTOBER 28, 2022 – Acker held a special single-cellar sale live online from Delaware yesterday evening: The Eclipse Collection, Part I. The 386-lot auction achieved a brisk $2.5 million in sales and proved that demand remains stable for fine and rare wines as almost fifteen percent of eligible lots set New World Records. The table is set for Acker’s two biggest events of the year, The “Birthday” Auction in the U.S. on November 18th and 19th, estimated at $10 million in sales, and the first live auction in nearly three years in Hong Kong on December 9th and 10th.

Ninety percent of the lots in the sale hailed from Burgundy, so it’s no surprise that the Top Ten Lots went exclusively to the acclaimed region. There was a notable mix of leading producers, led by Domaine de la Romanee Conti and Domaine Leroy who shared the first position with six bottles of 2017 DRC La Tache in banded owc and one bottle of 2001 Leroy Musigny each selling for $32,370. There was a four-way tie for the third spot with three bottles of 1991 A. Rousseau Chambertin, six bottles of 2008 Comte Liger-Belair La Romanee in owc, six bottles of 2013 Coche-Dury Corton Charlemagne, and three bottles of 2005 DRC Montrachet in banded owc each bringing in $29,880. DRC also took the seventh position, with three bottles of 2009 Montrachet in owc garnering $27,390, and the last of the top spots with six bottles of 2005 Romanee St. Vivant for $22,410. Top Ten finishers also included six bottles of 2005 J.F. Mugnier Musigny selling for $24,900 and two bottles of 2013 Leroy Chambertin ringing in at $23,655.

“As we head into the heart of the Fall auction season, it’s reassuring to see demand remains stable for the finest wines in the world. The Eclipse Collection offered immediate access to the best of Burgundy, and bidders responded accordingly,” commented Acker Chairman John Kapon. “Now it’s time to get excited about our upcoming events including The “Birthday” auction in November, and our first live auction in nearly three years in Hong Kong this December! I look forward to seeing many people in advance and at these two amazing events this Fall.”

Acker’s season continues in the U.S. on Friday and Saturday November 18th and 19th with the Birthday Auction and in Asia with a live auction in Hong Kong on Friday and Saturday December 9th and 10th. Acker is currently accepting collections for December sales, with spirits auctions closing monthly and weekly web auctions closing each week. For more information, email info@ackerwines.com.
